Errors with UAC within RDP session + more errors

Hi,
Recently, i've seen experiencing some really annoying problems with ASG Remote Desktop with the RDP connections.  These issues started out when connecting into Windows10 machines, but now the problem has extended to windows 7 & windows 8.1 machines too.

The scenario is as follows..
I use my laptop (Windows 10, v1703) with ASG Remote Desktop installed to connect into several workstation machines.  I connect using RDP as the protocol.
- Whilst inside the RDP sessions, whenever i need to elevate my credentials (i.e. get a UAC popup) the session freezes for a very long time (sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes several minutes or more).  If i then enter my UAC credentials it then also takes ages to return back to the normal desktop...Same thing if i press the cancel button on the UAC prompt.
- I also notice that initiating an RDP session (or Citrix ICA session) from WITHIN these RDP sessions, it frequently fails or doesn't work properly.  It either just doesn't connect, or it suffers from really long delays.

If i DON'T use ASG Remote Desktop, and instead use the NATIVE Windows RDP client (or even the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager), i do not suffer from any of these issues.  This makes me think that the RDP client that is build into the ASG software is at fault.
My company has very strict security policies in place, some of the settings that we have to use are:
- UAC Settings are set to "ALWAYS NOTIFY"
- RDP Clipboard redirection in group policy is disabled on a number of servers & workstations, but not all of them.
- RDP Client Drive mapping in group policy is disabled on a number of servers & workstations, but not all of them.

I have found that if i disable ALL of the options under "Resources > "Redirect the following devices" in the ASG RDP configuration against the client connection object, then a number of my issues go away.  It doesn't seem to resolve all of my issues though, and its very annoying not to have copy & paste available.

I know Microsoft have made a number of changes in recent times regarding RDP patching & most recently CredSSP security patches, and I wonder if this could be related at all.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, or have any suggestions ?
At the moment i'm pretty much having the use alternative software because ASG just isn't working properly Sad

p.s. I can replicate these issues on several machines so it isn't localized to just my machine.

Thanks!

Hello,

We have 10 license about ASG-RD configured with SQL 2008R2 with RD DB and we use login with domain user.

RD is installed on Win 10.1803

All works fine until a week ago.

The problem is that RD application seems did not recognize the computer domain but the login works.

This problem makes all private information disappear.

Help?

Guten Tag

RDP into RHEL 6 - black screen

When I try to RDP into a RHEL 6 server, I am getting a black screen where the initial login screen is supposed to be. I can, however, use MSTSC to RDP into the server with no issues so it appears to be an RD issue.

I tried disabling Auto Resize but that did not seem to work.

RD 2018 - 11.0.5988.1

Thanks.

VMware sync problem

Hey everyone, I'm new here and have found your posts very interesting. This is my first post and thank you for helping:

Trying to sync ASGRD-2018 we recently deployed with VMWARE. Under General/VMware environment I've supplied the server name ie https://myserver-vcenter:9443/vsphere-client, I've also specified credentials that I know works because I can use that to directly connect to the VMware console/vsphere web to retrieve all VM's/Templates/Hosts.

However, when I click syncronize now, I get the error:

An error occurred while reading data from environment. Operation cancelled
Error while trying to login vCenter Server.

Everything else in the domain syncs fine...

This makes absolutely no sense. Is there a bug in ASGRD-2018?

My version = 11.0.5988.1

Alternative Domain credentials

Hi everyone,

I've used Tools\Settings to specify under Environmnet alternative Domains that our Forest/Domain don't trust using an account that can read their AD/OU schema. No problems, it works fine and I can manually then import Computer Objects from their domains (I can't seem to get it to sync, it errors out), so for now import works OK.

Now when our support staff connects to those imported servers, they will not necessarily know that those server objects are from another domain.

I want to be able to supply just the DOMAIN part of the credentials and have the support person enter their user name and password. In other words I want to dump it down so the domain gets auto supplied, but I can't seem to get this right.

I've used credentials and created an account to prompt at each logon and by supplying the domain and a blank user and password - seems ASG ignores that totally at RDP logon.

I've thought about the variable %LocalUsername% but the problem is it literally uses the TEXT and does not resolve it as a variable, ie Domain\%LocalUsername% and not Domain\JonDoeUser.

Can this even be done in ASGRD2018 what I am proposing? One would think based on the server.domainsuffix that would indicate something in the program what domain it is from but it doesn't. And neither does using credentials work as I would expect it to (leaving username blank and just specific the domain).

Any ideas...?

Thanks

Werner

Data file Damaged after upgrade from 2012 to 2018

Hello,
When I start 2018 the first time, it let's me import the settings from 2012 and works in the initial session.  As soon as I stop and restart the program I get the message that my settings are damaged.
When I use backup then environment is empty.
The same situation is when I use 2017 version.
I am using local file with windows logon protection. I have in my settings around 4.000 connections and i do not want it to create manually again Smile
Version 2012 work fine.

Do you have any tool that I can use to detect what is wrong?

Use rdgiskdcproxy flag Setting

I have a question about the RDP Gateway configuration possibilities in ASG. We have multiple untrusted Domains and we connect through gateway servers inside this domains with the ASG remote desktop application. In the Microsoft RDP configuration exist a settings to use RDP Kerberos Proxy (Setting rdgiskdcproxy:i:1 – entry in the *.rdp file). Is it possible to load an individual *.rdp file in the ASG RDP Settings (Indivual ASG folder settings) or can this configuration be done anywhere in the ASG RDP configuration itself (ASG XML-Settings, registry)?

Best regards,
Daniel

Hello, my ASG RD 2018 cannot connect some Windows Server 2012 R2, while direct RDP (mstsc) works.
With this error: The remote computer '******' requires Network Level Authentication, which is not enabled in the RDP connection properties.

Disable "Network Level Auth" when client OS is Win8 or higher - this option is chosen.

Powershell Module x64

Guten Tag

Fabian

We've used the Microsoft Data Migration Assistent to create an assessment.]

issues:

ItemProperties --> column Data is ntext => change to nvarchar(max)
Items --> column Description is ntext => change to nvarchar(max)
Logs --> column Details is ntext => change to nvarchar(max)

procedures:
"Old WHERE syntax"
Code:
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[SecurityGroupAssignmentsForAllItemsGet] AS
SELECT * FROM SecurityAssignment Assignments, SecurityGroups Groups
WHERE
Assignments.GroupId = Groups.GroupId
ORDER BY
ItemId, Groups.GroupId

--to:

ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[SecurityGroupAssignmentsForAllItemsGet] AS
SELECT * FROM SecurityAssignment Assignments

Hello,

ASG-RemoteDesktop 2018 30 day trial expired on me.  Help desk was able to provide me with our license file, but when I attempt to import the license file I get a warning;

You software maintenance period is over.  You can't import this license into ASG-RemoteDesktop 2018.   You now can go to the webshop to buy a new license by clicking OK.

What are my options?  Thank you in advance!

ASG 2018 Login nicht möglich

Hallo,

vgl https://www.sqlshack.com/sql-server-2014...databases/

Claudio

High CPU Usage with RDP Gateway

Hi,

Finding after 45 minutes to an hour ASG begins to max out the CPU
This only happens if I connect to servers via a RD Gateway.
If the server(s) I'm connecting to are only direct then it's fine.

Client computer is Windows 10, tried disabling AV completely and still the same.
This was also happening with ASG 2017, upgraded to 2018 and no change.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

I am running ASG Remote Desktop 2015 on Windows 10 Enterprise Version 1709. OS Build 16299.547

windows native rdp protocol works fine.

I have checked all remote desktop settings, etc.   that looks all good.

I keep receiving the below warning message when trying to rdp from ASG:

The remote computer "" requires Netwwork Level Authenication which your computer does not support.

Any help appreciated.

Thank You.

Smaller tabs for connections (so I don't have to scroll)

As above,

I had to reinstall and my environment looks different, I thought there was a way to make the tabs that show your connections smaller - this way I can have more in view without needing to use the small arrows on the right hand side ..

For example I can see 9 tabs, they each give the server name (FQDN, which is required as multiple domains) but they don't need to be so big, they could be half as big then I could see 18,

Is this possible?

cheers,
